Discover our local mascots

Fili & Maxi from the Wilder Kaiser

In the Hotel Kaiser we really do think about little adventurers too, so they can have a wonderful and experience-filled holiday. For this reason we are not just a child-friendly hotel, but also a hotel with child supervision in Tyrol. During your stay the hotel's two little mascots Philomena and Maxi take kids with them into the realm of the Wilder Kaiser in Tirol. They show little ones secret stashes, adventure-filled hikes and explorer paths. So you can get an idea of who you are entrusting your children to, they both would like to introduce themselves.

The bold one

Philomena

Hello all of you, I am Philomena. You can just call me Fili. My parents and my brother have called me that since I was little. I am very proud of my name, because it is very significant: Phílos means friend and Ménos means courage - so courageous friend. A few centuries ago there was also a saint called Philomena. She was like a guardian angel for children, babies and even for mothers-to-be.

Here on the Wilder Kaiser I am your company and I am also in charge of child supervision in the Hotel Tirol in Scheffau. You get to enjoy lots of adventures with me and you can also be sure that I will watch out for you. I grew up with my family at Hintersteiner See, which glistens wonderfully. Have you ever been there on a trip?

The mountain buff

Maxi

My big brother Maximilian, known as Maxi, looks after our cows there, milks them and makes sure in the autumn that they return home from the Alpine pasture safe and sound. There are lots of animalsliving on our farm: Hens, pigs, goats, cats and even a dog. Both of us would be delighted if you were to come and visit us with your family.

Maxi is a real mountain buff, as we so affectionately call it here. He knows exactly where the best hiking paths are, where you can enjoy really good skiing, without being snowballed by an avalanche, why the animals in the forest are making so much noise and what the weather will be like in the morning. He also knows every single flower and the entire animal kingdom in the Alps … My parents say that he has inherited his very special flair for the mountains from his grandfather Alois. I have to say that I can well imagine that is the case. The two of them are so similar!

A story

How Fili became a herbal expert

And do you know what? I have very special powerstoo! For instance, I can magic up water, then magic it away again. You all will have seen the lake in front of Kaiserlodge . It was me who magicked it up. I did well, don’t you think? And I am a little herbal expert too. Here’s how I found out that I had this talent:

early one morning when my family was still asleep, I had a feeling that something was amiss. I was right, for when I tiptoed over to my brother and to my parents who were in bed, I discovered that all three had come down with a high temperature during the night. My Mum asked me to prepare a herbal tea because when you are not well, you have to drink a lot. So I went into the old cupboard that belonged to my great-grandmother Magdalena, where there was sage, dried nettles, thyme, cranberries, mint, lemon balm, spruce, pine, fir and mountain pine in big glass jars and took a little bit of this herb, and a little bit of that herb … then mixed them all together to make a drink and after letting it sit for three hours in front of the fire, I gave my family the mixture. And of course, Mum, Dad and Maxi were better again. And that is when I realised that I had the same herbal powers that my great grandmother had.

Since that time I have been making healing mixtures and helping Ersin in the Kaiser kitchen, season meals. It was also me who created the nibble hedges, that you can find in the hotel garden. If you like, I will be happy to take you with me on a herbal hike, where I can show you special leaves in very secluded spots.

Experience adventure

Into the natural surroundings!

Come along! Maxi and I take you with us on an exciting tour through Scheffau. We explore (supervised of course) steep mountains, glistening blue lakes and, with a bit of luck, we might even come across Edelweiß. You learn why animals hibernate, why they have a winter coat, why the trees change colour in the autumn, how you can mix beneficial herbal teas, what a Kneipp treatment is, how you can set up your own mini-garden and much more.

We are already looking forward to getting to know you.
